Are you surprised by the name ‘Moong Dal Kheer’? You probably never associated a dal with a sweet. Here is a recipe that uses moong dal as a base.
Ingredients:
30 g split moong dal
90 g rice
225 g jaggery
50 g ghee (clarified butter)
30 g cashewnuts and raisins
1 ripe banana – sliced
4 cardamoms – pounded and powdered
1 tbsp oil
Method:
- Heat oil in a wok and fry gram lightly. Keep aside.
- Boil 2 cups of water in a saucepan.
- Now add the boiled water to the gram and rice and cook on medium heat till done.
- Simmer over low heat, till this mixture thickens.
- Stir in jaggery and remove from heat when the jaggery melts and blends in.
- Fry cashews and raisins in ghee and stir into the kheer.
- Garnish with bananas and cardamom before serving.
